So basically your main message is on top, then sub messages underneath. You may even throw in a side bar for additional information. Try to keep it clean and organized. By utilizing these squares, it keeps your layout clean and well organized. You can add more content by using a read more or a link from one of your boxes to a more detailed page.

Naturally if your using WordPress you will need to pick out a theme that satisfies your taste. They have a ton of free themes that you can use. Using free themes will limit your design. You can always start with the free stuff and upgrade as necessary.

When it comes to font, it’s all about readability. You must have the right size for your audience. If you cater to an older crowd then maybe you may need to move the size of your font up a notch. They have already did the research on what works best. Color is not just about how it looks, but how it makes your feel. Like blue for example is calming and trustworthy. No wonder a lot of people choose blue. Facebook is blue.

Just so there is no confusion about navigation labels, we are specially talking about the buttons for navigation of a website. The buttons that move you from page to page. They should be label with keywords.

Use powerful keywords when labeling your buttons. Not only for navigation but they make a visual impact for visitors. In addition, you wouldn’t want to use a label for say services. Be more specific. You would not get that page ranked in the search engines by talking about all of your services on a single page.

Who types in services? Be more specific. You should use only 5 to 7 navigation labels. We try to use no more than 5. If you need more navigation area, you could use a drop down menu. Note: drop down menus are not advised. But if you do need to use drop down menus, break them down into categories.

Too many navigation buttons can lead to confusion. That is why we recommend 5 and no more than 7. Visitors may miss your most important points. Put your menu or menus in standardized places. The top of the page and a side bar would be proficient. Too many places and you may confuse the visitor.

One other consideration should be the use of navigation labels with mobile devices. People on smartphones need to use their fingers and thumbs. We use have a different menu for mobile users verse our desktop version. It is just something you want to think about. Most people are searching from a smartphone.

Here is a pointer that you should know. Each page that you publish will have an opportunity to rank in the search results. So each page will use its own keywords or phrases. It’s not about trying to get your website as a whole ranking. But your main page should be your priority. That is why you need different keywords or phases for each page. Use a different keyword per page.

This is one area that you need to hit the nail on the head. Choosing the right keywords can make a big difference in the search results. Try to choose approximately 5 keywords or phrases per page. The more the better. You can always use them at a later time when you add more content.

Your main keyword or phase is what your website is all about. First go check out who your competition is. Each city will have their own listings. So if you live in Daytona Beach and own a restaurant. Just type in, Daytona Beach restaurants. Check them first.

We even go and check the next city over from us. Just type in Jacksonville and add on what you are looking for. Example; Jacksonville best burgers. They may use keywords that are just a tad different. What keyword or phrases are they using? If you own a restaurant what is your specialty?

You will have other restaurants in the same category. It could be a steak house, seafood, burgers or Mexican. Look for those competitors and see what phrases they are using. What would a customer type in to find your business?

What Keywords Would A Customer Use?

Think about it. What would a customer would type in or say using voice search, to find your business. Don’t make it to complicated. Ask your employees, family and friends what they would use to find your particular business.

What would a customer type in if they were looking for a plumber? It would depend on what they needed. So if you own a plumbing company in Orlando. What is your specialty?

New construction, unclogging drains, commercial, remodeling bath rooms, water heater repair or installation. Use what you specialize in and what a customer would type in to get the information, product or service they need.

Find Your Best Images & Resize For Faster Load Speeds

Next gather up all your images. Make sure they are clear, easy to see and that they send a message about the subject they cover. Most images that will be displayed on a website will be a medium size. You do not want big heavy images that will cause your website to lose any speed. Get them all sized to a medium size level.

Look for images that relate to your business. Take pictures of your business, inside and out. The more pictures you have available the better. That way you can choose the images that will be best suited for your business based upon your content.

Use photos of employees, your products or getting some nice photos while performing a service. Employee of the month photos. Even photos of customers at your location. Keep your photos undated as necessary.

When writing your headline use only 60 characters. That is all the space you are allowed. That will include spaces, symbols and the content. The description you can put up to 320 characters. It use to be only 160.

We still try and put the main message in the first 160. If you go pass the limit, the rest of the extra content does not show up. Write it so everything is included so a visitor can decide which site to go to first.

Being creative can give you and edge when writing your headlines and titles. Remember your sending a message to people that are looking for your products and services. Take Ford for example. When they talked about their new F150 a couple of years back.

It went something like; Ford Tough Military Grade Pickup. What does that actually mean? It’s marketing. Stay honest and write the best one liner you can come up with while using your keywords.

Also the description of each page needs to done and refined to get maximum results for customers and search engines alike. Sometimes it takes time to get it right. Keep working on it.

Here is a prime example; Just look at the Outback steak house again. “The home of juicy steaks. Aussie hospitality and spirited drinks.” Along with the photos that are displayed, it sends a clear message to any visitor.

Well, it’s time to add in your creative content. Remember that each page is trying to get ranked. This is where you will be writing content for each page. Stay on one topic. It starts with your headline for that page. Use those keywords and phrases to start you off. The headline will be what they call the H1.

That is the main headline for that page. Then you write a brief explanation what the reader will receive throughout the rest of the page. Now, we are back to those squares we talked about earlier. These will be sub headers. Called H2.

Now is the time to write about the sub header or the H2 subject. Any additional headlines will receive a lower sub heading number, like an H3 and anything written under that will be an H4. Once your ready for the next subject, you start with a fresh H2 heading.

You want to do this to every single page that you write the content for. It seems a little complicated. You can get a good example just from the pages of my website.
